Realms: Etria

Realms: Etria is a GM-free solo and group storytelling RPG set in a world of cosmic mystery, ancient ruins, and wildly inventive cultures. The world sits somewhere between post-apocalyptic cosmic fantasy and cosy adventure - built on the aftermath of a Cataclysm that erased history and left behind sleeping titan-tech and ruins, but it's never grim or dark in tone. 

Each of the six countries included in the book of prompts has its own flavour: you can go futuristic steampunk scholarly (Hodi), post-apocalyptic survival (Yengel), whimsical pastoral nature guardians (Grojie), dystopian underground rebellion (O'lage), religious mystery and scandal (Lan Rut), or naval trading artistry (Blassai).

How It Plays

Realms works solo, with a partner, or in a group of up to four. All you need is a standard deck of cards (jokers removed), a handful of d6s, some notecards, and something to write with.

Each session moves through one or more chapters: self-contained adventures of around 20–30 minutes. When outlining a chapter, you draw cards to generate scene prompts (noun and adjective pairs like bitter socialite or sizeable sprout), arrange them into a narrative order, and decide which scene will feature a dice encounter. Then you step inside the story and play it out. Challenging moments are resolved through a light dice pool system using d6s.

Character creation is quick and fully randomisable: a mix of card draws and dice rolls that determines your species, home country, skills, and name.
