Creature Craft
A downloadable game
Creature craft is a collaborative storytelling game designed for either solo journalling or group-based worldbuilding. At the end of a game of creature craft, you will have created a minimum of three new species that you can use in your other TTRPG adventures!
This is a game about speculative biology and it uses a mix of simple language as well as snippets of scientific knowledge to help you craft new creatures and explore how they interact with the world. Each player creates three creatures at once and then you play them during seasons where they can either feed from plant food or munch (attack) each other.
The game is simple and takes a rules-lite approach so there is plenty of space for imagination.
Equipment
- A set of three six-sided die
- A deck of playing cards (with jokers removed)
- And something to write on
Reference Book
For $6 you get the rule book, for $8 the download includes both a rule book and a reference book with biology facts. The reference book is for people who like a bit more detail when developing speculative biology, it comes with more descriptions of each option for your creature and more tables to roll on to help you further define your creature.
Did you know there are three types of camouflage? Well with the reference book you get to find out what they are!
Note
The rules book mentions some printable cards as an alternative to using a standard deck of cards, the print cards haven’t been created…yet. But if there is interest in a set of designed cards then they can easily be created.

The event table is labeled 1-12 even though it is impossible to get a one with 2d6.
I'll try to change that soon.
I've updated it and added a new printable version as well!
